1.  Materials:
*  15 or so pieces of scratch paper
*   a piece of card stock, cut to desired dimension (see below)
*   stapler
*   embellishments as desired
*   glue stick (optional)

2. The little pre-made matchbook note pads that can be
    purchased online are nice, but they are only available
    in glossy cardstock.   You can make your own, in any size,
    texture and color you desire.  Our example shows both a
    3" x 5" scratch paper and some half that size (3" x 2 1/2").

3. Cut a piece of cardstock 3 1/8" wide, leaving the length at
    11 inches.

4.  At one end of the cardstock, score at 3/8".  Working down
    from that score line
, score the cardstock again at 3/8".
    Staple the cardstock on top of the scratch paper as shown.

5. a.) With the cardstock on top, fold the cardstock up, using
    the first score line. b.) Then fold it back behind the scratch
    paper utilizing the second score line. c.) Carefully fold the
    cardstock back up over the scratch paper. Leaving about
    1/8" of cardstock under the fold, cut the remaining piece off.

6. Tip: When the note pad is opened entirely, the cover could
    flip back to its original starting position.  Glue can be added
    to the upper portion of the last sheet of paper in the stack to
    secure it to the cover.

7. Embellish as desired.

8. Optional:  Make the top fold wider by widening the score
    marks to 1/2".  Decorative punches make easy work of making
    the note pad festive.

9.  Time Saver:  Simply break apart  one of our 2" mini sticky note cubes
     and attach them inside the cover, no scratch paper cutting needed!

10. Variation:  Make a quick "get well" gift by substituting a
      tea bag for the paper.  Simply modify the pattern width by laying
     down the gift contents onto the cardstock and adding 1/8 to 1/4 inch
     to each side, which allows for coverage of the item.

11.  Variation:  Substitute any small gift (earrings, necklace, wine
        charms, tie clip) into the matchbook. See instructions directly above
        for pattern modification.  Small 2 inch x 2 inch plastic bags used
        in this example can be found on E-Bay and sometimes at Walmart
        in the craft supplies.  See also Gallery:   Identification Ideas -
        Stemware Charms.
